Reusable blocks — FlexiBlocks library

Reusable blocks let you build a block group once, insert it into multiple pages, articles, products, collections, or metaobject entries, and update the library entry to push changes to every reference.

One-time installation setup

Before the library works, complete Settings → Installation. This installs metafield definitions and the $app:gutenberg_reusable_block metaobject type FlexiBlocks needs.

If reusable blocks are unavailable or save fails with a setup error, finish installation first.

Workflow

  1. Open Reusable blocks on the content hub (/library/reusable-blocks).
  2. Create or edit a library entry in the full editor → Save.
  3. In a resource editor, insert Reusable block from the inserter and pick the library entry.
  4. To update all uses, edit the library entry again and save — the app re-expands HTML on linked resources (sync via Shopify webhooks).

You cannot nest one reusable block inside another library entry.

How references appear in resource editors

Linked reusable blocks show a read-only preview in page/article/product editors (live library JSON when available, HTML fallback otherwise). Edit the library entry to change content everywhere it is referenced.

SEO and storefront

At save time on each resource, reusable block content is expanded into body HTML. Storefront visitors see merged HTML in the theme; they do not load library metaobjects separately.

Multilingual shops

Reusable reference IDs live on the primary locale. When you save a library entry, sync re-expands all locales of resources that reference it.

Uninstall note

Uninstalling FlexiBlocks does not remove HTML already saved in Shopify. Library metaobjects and app metafields may remain until you delete them in Admin.
