Metaobject content types — custom HTML fields

FlexiBlocks can edit custom metaobject entries when your shop already defines metaobject types in Shopify Admin. The app does not create new metaobject types — it adds Gutenberg fields to types you enable.

Enable a content type

Section titled “Enable a content type”
  1. Open Settings → Content types in FlexiBlocks.
  2. Find a metaobject type from your shop (live definitions from Shopify).
  3. Click Enable and choose a multi_line_text_field as the HTML body field (not rich text).
  4. The app adds gutenberg_data and gutenberg_reusable_refs fields to that definition.

Create and publish metaobject entries in Shopify Admin as usual.

Edit entries

After at least one type is enabled:

  1. Open Metaobjects on the content hub (or go directly if only one type is enabled).
  2. Pick an entry → Edit in FlexiBlocks → Save.

Saved HTML is stored on the mapped field. Your theme must output that field’s raw HTML inside a wrapper with class .ecom-gutenberg-content so the storefront embed can hydrate blocks.

Reusable blocks

You can insert reusable block references in metaobject bodies. The reusable block library type itself is not offered as a hub content type.

Enable the FlexiBlocks app embed on templates that render your metaobject HTML. Behavior matches Storefront embed for articles and pages.
